Andy Murray thanks fans after reaching career landmark


Andy Murray took to social media on Tuesday after becoming the first British player to reach 500 career wins to thank his fans for their support.

The 27-year old Scot defeat Kevin Anderson 6-4 3-6 6-3 at the Miami Masters to become the 46th guy to achieve 500 wins since the open age started.

A clearly thrilled Murray posted the image above on his Instagram account following the triumph and composed: “Thanks to everyone for the messages today..

“Never pictured achieving 500 triumphs when I first began on the tour!

“Thanks to all of the devotees that have supported me throughout my career so far it is much appreciated and I Will keep striving to allow you to get happy.

“Additionally to my loved ones, buddies and my team for all their encouragement and support and for always sticking by me – and to the haters I adore you all #ATP #500club.”
